The SIGMA 3 Survival Certification Program is a 3 part program requiring 5 course completions. Certification programs are different than just attending these courses on a regular basis. If you have no interest in being certified by us then you don’t have to actually test out in the different skills sets. You can attend and get a certificate of completion. But if you decide to become certified then you will be required to produce verifiable results in all the different skill-sets! All certifications can be done on a private class or group class basis. After each course completion you will receive an Authorized Sigma 3 Survival Certification graduation certificate.
The Basic Certification requires:
-Student will complete the SIGMA 3 Survival Standard course
-Instructors will lecture and demonstrate techniques and then student will reproduce them for certification
-Construct 1 of each Cold weather\Hot weather shelters; student must sleep in their shelters they create, at least two nights during course.
-Student will demonstrate that you can procure water with 2 primitive methods
-Demonstrate that you can start fire using the bow drill and one modern method
-Student will construct 4 primitive traps and set two types of modern traps
-That you identify at least 5 common wild edibles, 5 common medicinal plants and 2 poisonous plants
-Student must lastly demonstrate the ability to make cordage and one basic cutting tool from the land.
Advanced Certification requires:
-Student will complete Sigma 3 Advanced Standard course.
-Instructors will demonstrate and then students will reproduce techniques.
-You will be required to construct a well built long term primitive survival structure: wickiup, debris hut, or swamp bed with fire ring on platform.
-Procure water with 4 different primitive methods
-You must build your own hand drill kit and you must procure a coal. If coal is not produced at class then you may later submit a video or other proof that you got a coal with primitive hand drill. Student will also demonstrate 4 other methods of primitive or modern fire, and one must include primitive bow drill.
-Finally, the student will build 3 deadfall traps and 3 primitive snares as well as one fishing trap.
-Student must be able to identify 10 edible plants, 5 medicinal plants, and 3 poisonous plants.
-Lastly the student will make at least 6 feet of cordage and be able to make two basic cutting tools from the land.
-Last two days of Advanced Standard you will be required to survive without food and with only basic equipment in a group environment. This will be a real life test of your learned skills so far!
SIGMA 3 Elite Level Certification
-Student must complete at least two wild edibles and medicinal plants courses. Or be able to pass a plant identification and uses test. This test can be taken when you are attending another certification course. Be able to identify at least 15 wild edibles, 10 medicinal plants, and 5 poisonous plants.
-Student must successfully complete 5 day knife only course, that requires you survive with nothing but your knife in a group environment!
-Finally there will be a final exam process where you will taken written exam on what you have learned in all these courses and a few items you should have learned outside the class from practice.
