What you will learn?

Shelters- You will make shelters from nothing but the materials provided in your surroundings, using only the machete as your main tool to survive. Knowledge weighs nothing and with the skills of the Rama indians you can survive in the comfort of shelters made from local resources. You will build swamp beds, A frame jungle hooches, and how to protect yourself from the bugs using these shelters.

Water Procurement- The jungle has a lot of water to drink, but much of it is not safe without using the techniques we will teach you. You’ll learn how to use water vines to procure water and what vines are poisonous and un-safe to drink. You will learn where the safe drinking sources are that require no boiling or purification. These skills are extremely important when on the move and staying hydrated can mean life or death.

Tools- We will use our machetes heavily and your instructors will show the proper techniques for safe usage of all your jungle tools.

Fire Making- Learning to make fire in the jungle can be one of the most difficult skills you will learn on this adventure. We will cover how to do primitive methods such as the bow drill and bamboo fire saw. You’ll learn varying fire lays and how to collect dry wood in extremely wet conditions.

Food Procurement- Survival Trapping and fishing methods will be covered heavily in this course because we believe what separates the men from the boys in survival is the ability to be able to meat on the table. These techniques will include several primitive jungle deadfalls and snares, as well as survival fishing methods such as basket fish traps. We will show you the methods that the Rama use to catch freshwater shrimp and how to prepare them, as well as how to use them for bait to catch other fish. If time allows we may even try and take a wild pig with primitive bows.

Tracking- When finding food on land your most important skill set is being able to track game efficiently so you can hunt it or trap it. The Rama indians will discuss the tracking techniques they have been using for generations and how that ties into getting the game you need to eat well!

Jungle Hygiene- In wet conditions your personal hygiene can literally mean life or death when bacteria abounds everywhere. Small wounds can turn into giant festering infections and can turn fatal in a short amount of time if not taken care of properly. The locals will show you the best plants and methods for keeping things clean in a jungle survival environment.

Jungle Medicine- Once we have completed the jungle survival training section of the course you will be extracted the Rama village where you will spend two days with the local shaman learning jungle medicine. He will show the best plants for treating a variety of jungle ailments and wounds, this jungle medicine section is worth the trip just by itself. Very few ever get the experience of learning medicine from a true jungle medicine man. He has been using these same methods to treat his people his whole life and in this course he is going to pass that knowledge onto you!
