Doug Householder is an avid outdoor enthusiast, concealed carry instructor, amateur blacksmith , former gun store owner and leather crafter who grew up hunting, camping, fishing, and shooting in the bottom lands of the Black river in north east Arkansas. As a youngster, he would imagine the early Native American lifestyle and enjoyed spending days in the woods making fire and cooking freshly acquired game and making his own leather gear.
Doug has been a concealed carry instructor since 2008 and also spent five plus years as a volunteer firefighter and first responder in his hometown of Corning, AR.
In the fall of 2016, Doug was looking for something more active and exciting in the wilderness survival arena, so he enrolled in Sigma 3’s 45 day instructor program.
Doug thrived on the excitement and comradery of like minded people as he completed the 45 day program, as well as completing the 7 day Scout Knife- only and the Sigma 3 S.E.R.E. (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, Escape) Training. Upon returning from living in the woods, Doug had an opportunity to work with the Boy Scouts and teach the Mountain Man class during their annual training camp in Hardy, AR and was able to utilize skills he had learned at Sigma 3.
In 2017, he began to spend his spare time to help out around the Sigma 3 campus and enjoyed assisting with class instruction under the tutelage of Justin “Sage” Williams.
